Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) analysis technology is a physics method to analyze the matter's chemistry composition and content by its emission or absorption spectra reflecting its atoms'and molecules'characters. This analysis technology is mainly used for the qualitative and quantificational analysis for the organic matter, especially those containing the hydrogen-containing functional group. Near-infrared spectroscopy analysis technique refers to the spectroscopy, chemometrics, computer application and basic measuring technique and so on, and it completes the design for optic-mechanical-electric integration.The near-infrared light could comparatively easily penetrate the matter. It could realize the non-destructive measurement without the chemical reagent and the pretreatment for the sample, that is to say, it couldn't pollute the sample or the circumstance. The near-infrared photon's energy is lower than the visible light's. The NIRS could measure the sample quickly, so it is suitable for the real-time and on-line measuring, including the measuring in situ. In a word, the features of NIRS analysis technology are quickly measuring, green environmental protection and low cost. So the application domain of NIRS analysis technology is quite extensive.The portable near-infrared spectrometer PISA designed by the laboratory where I am in has been able to carry on the mineral examination in the open air. But it must be controlled by the upper computer (the notebook PC or the PDA). It restricts the ability of measuring in situ in the open, because the weight of the notebook PC is not fit for the measurement in the open, and the ability of post treatment for the spectrum data is not enough. Besides these, the price of the notebook PC or the PDA is too high, which would increase the cost of the whole system. To the deficiency above, this paper puts forward a new design for new-style portable near-infrared spectrometer.The main study work and productions are as follows: 1. Though carrying on the USB/HOST and the USB-DEVICE/SLAVE mode compatibly (that is to say, the USB/HOST and the USB-DEVICE/SLAVE mode could be switched dynamically), the spectrometer could not only be controlled to scan and upper transmit data by the notebook PC or the PDA through the USB bus, but also on the local port be controlled by the keyboard of itself without the controlling of the upper computer.The compatible design could be realized with the USB communication chip CH375.
