The wind load of large and light roof of gymnasiums is very complex, which even controls the design. Therefore, studying on the characteristic of the wind pressure distribution of the surfaces of gymnasiums and determining the wind load are very important for preventing the gymnasiums from wind damage.Based on wind tunnel test and numerical simulation analysis by ADINA, this thesis studies the wind pressure distribution and wind load of the roof of the Qingdao gymnasium. This thesis introduces the basic theory of natural wind and wind pressure distribution, and the theory of turbulence models. This thesis uses ADINA software to simulate wind pressure distribution of the Qingdao gymnasium, and compares the numerical simulation result with the wind tunnel test.Through wind tunnel test, wind pressure on roof of the gymnasium in different wind directions is measured, then the wind pressure coefficient and the body coefficient are worked out. With the application of ADINA, flow field around the gymnasium is simulated. Before the simulation several numerical schemes are considered, including three-dimension laminar flow, three-dimension turbulent flow, finite-element method, finite volume method, and so on. Through calculating, analyzing, comparing, three-dimension turbulent flow finite-element method is adopted to simulate the flow field of the gymnasium model in wind tunnel, and graphs of wind pressure and wind speed are gained for several typical yaw wind angles. The difference between numerical simulation result and wind tunnel test is analyzed in this thesis, and the law of wind pressure distribution is summarized. From the comparison, it can be concluded that the results of ADINA numerical simulation and wind tunnel test fit well, therefore the law of the wind pressure distribution can be a reference for the study of CFD and resistant wind design. In addition, the numerical simulation method of studying the law of static pressure distribution on the structure surface has the features of simplicity, fastness, low cost.
