As computer technique progress, 3D Visualization technique and Virtual Reality technique are developing rapidly. The design of Road Engineering has developed from 2D GIS to 3D GIS, from single component design to integral design on the basis of digital earth. 3D Visualization of road-geological bodies expand the foundation of existing theory as well as solve many elementary problems in reality of the geological area and bring new breakthrough to the methods modal. The paper focus on some issues of 3D Visualization road-geological bodies. The main tasks and conclusion of the paper are as below.(1)As to the diversity of engineering application and the complexity of the geological data origin, three requirements on data are presented, the unification of accuracy and simplification, the unification of space and dimension, the unification of partial and integration. It provided a referential principle to build a geological database for 3D GIS and define the metadata of geological date.(2) By analyzing some typical tectonic, we concluded the principle that the stratum can extend and go out gradually. Examples indicate that the principle can applied to many sorts of stratum construction. In the course of building geological bodies 3D model of drilling data, it can be regarded as the basic principle for this complicated model.(3) In the paper, the closed geological surface model based on GTP is described, and the corresponding data structure is defined. In addition, the algorithm on closed 3D-TIN geological model, which combines 3D stratum reconstruction principle, is deduced.(4) Through the application of VC++ and OpenGL API, A three-dimensional visual system, which contains rotating, moving, zooming and section drafting, has been constructed for engineering rock mass.
