| This dissertation is a research on Mr. Chuin Tung's course of architectural practice during the year 1931 to 1949.Mr. Chuin Tong had conducted architectural practice in China for 18 years from 1931 when he entered Zhaoshen & Chenzhi's architecture office to 1949 when People's Republic of China was founded, during which, his course of architectural practice can be divided into three phases: the wartime, prewar and postwar, due to the upheaval of the world situation and architectural designing environment.The first chapter expounds the prelude of Mr. Chuin Tung's architectural practice in China, namely his circumstances in Northeast hometown. Homecoming, teaching and migrating to the south were three important choices he made during that period. The cause is worth of study. The second, third and fourth chapter respectively study the three phases from the aspects like his personal growth, social relations, background of architectural practice, analysis of typical projects, classification of projects'category .Based on the previous chapters, the fifth chapter analyzes the viewpoint of Mr. Chuin Tung's architectural practice. Firstly, the paper reviews the basis of practical view--modern architects'living condition and Mr. Chuin Tung's economic condition. Secondly, the paper discusses his attitude towards historical chances, indigenous culture and project's owner. Finally, it points out that the deep background basis of his architectural practical view requires further study.The dissertation includes 63,000 words'long text with 101 pieces of diagram and illustration. |
