Recently, more and more attention and research having been given to the hybrid excitation motor driver because its combines the advantages of the permanent magnet (PM) machine with electricity field machine. A two-way hybrid excitation brushless motor has been put forward on the basis of doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor. It inherits the merits of high efficiency and high power factor of DSPM motor. It achieves weakening or strengthening magnet flux to regulate speed by controlling the magnitude or the direction of axial field windings current. This dissertation gives the method of the design and calculation, analyzes the static-state character of the two-way hybrid excitation motor, and two sample motors including a skewed rotor and a non-skewed rotor motor are designed. The development state of the hybrid excitation motor driver is reviewed and its research background is introduced in the first chapter. The basic theory of DSPM motor drive system is introduced, and then the basic structure, operation principle and the mathematic model of the hybrid excitation and relative controlling components including power converter, current detection sensor, and rotor position angle detection sensor motor are presented in this dissertation. In this dissertation, the analysis and calculation of the two-way hybrid excitation motor are presented; it includes the main dimension, the selection of the PM, the amateur windings and the field windings. And then the finite element model of the motor is built to verify and adjust the motor design. The static-state characteristics of the hybrid motor are analyzed based on two-dimensional (2D) finite element analysis (FEA), including flux linkage characteristic, inductance characteristic, torque characteristic and the influence of armature reaction. In order to verify the results of weakening and strengthening magnet field, simulating and experimental are presented. In the end of the dissertation, the relative generator experiment results are given including the no-load voltage wave of both motors and the different loads of the skewed rotor motor. The relative analysis of both the pure resistor load and resistor-inductance load are given also.
