The further development of dry-type power transformer, the important equipment in power system, is to improve the reliability, to reduce loss, and to save material, so the optimum design of dry-type power transformer is especially important. The design by the optimum method and the computer aided technology can obviously shorten product design period, reduce the cost, improve product quality, strengthen the market competitiveness and gain distinct economic performance.Aiming to the optimum design of dry-type power transformer, this thesis discusses the following research work:(1) The thesis summarizes the general structure characteristics of dry-type power transformer and the traditional manual design flow, analyzing major issues concerning with design theories, flowchart, purpose and the alignment of it. At the same time, it makes a deep analysis on calculating details and straightening out the relationship of steps and modules of the design. And it designs a flowchart for the electromagnetic calculation of the dry-type power transformer.(2) The thesis makes a deeper research on the calculation of short-circuit impedance which has a serious influence on power transformer performance in the design. In addition, it deals with many methods, such as engineering calculation, magnetic circuit, leakage flux, energy method based on numerical analysis of magnetic field, and their applying conditions and the degree of difficulty and accuracy. Based on the combination of PDE tools and magnetic energy theory in MATLAB, the short-circuit impedance calculation of dry-type power transformer can be accurately calculated to verify the result in the electromagnetic design.(3) Having analyzed and summarized the data in the optimum design of dry-type power transformer, the author designs reasonable data structure to restore the data, thus realizes efficient management.(4) For the characteristics of optimum design, the thesis uses C++ programming language with integrated developing environment of C++ builder 6.0. The software is developed with friendly human-machine interface in the optimum electromagnetic design of dry-type power transformer.The software, designed for the dry-type power transformer discussed in the thesis, has been applied tentatively in some projects. It has been proved by practice that the optimum design of dry-type power transformer can improve performance parameter, reduce product weight and shorten the design period.
