With the development of the society, power consumption in China grows rapidly. Replacement of thermal power generation seems impossible in the foreseeable future, although the exploitation of new energy resources is under way in recent years. Thermal power generation is still an essencial facility in power industry, and the research to protect this life blood projec from earthquake is extreme important.The new guiding mechanism has good performance on vibration control of the boiler frame system, and its invention represents the combination of science and technology with experience. Further more, the seismic response control of boiler frame system using the new guiding mechanism reflects the latest principles in anti-seismic design.The main content of this thesis is as follows:Firstly, structure, principl and theoretical basis of the new guiding mechanism are introduced. The advantages of the new guiding mechanism are summarized and its feasibility is validated by ANSYS calculation.Secondly, function relations between the new guiding mechanism and performance criterion, which includes the maximum displacement on the top storey and maximum displacement between adjacent storeys in the boiler frame system under seismic load, are fitted. With this definite function relation, the displacement of the boiler frame system can be controled directly by adjusting the parameters of the new guiding mechanism and meet the normal working requirement of power plants under under earthquake.Further more, internal forces of the boiler frame system with and without the new guiding mechanism subjected seismic load are analyzed and compared, members-beams and columns-with large internal forces variance were summarized. The function relations between maximum stress of those member and parameters of the new guiding mechanism were fitted. Additional, force path between the new guiding mechanism and the boiler frame system is analyzed.In addition, several different installation sites of the new guiding mechanism are compared, as the optimal installation sites being generalized.
