With the rapid development of China's economy, Steel structure is more and more widely used for its light weight,low cost,suiting soft ground, easy to install, shortening the construction period. As the most common structure in the entire steel industry truss plays an important role. On the technical aspect, the truss structure has been mature .But from the economical aspect, because it spans longer, bearings vary and the total amount of steel increases , how to find the best program to obtain the maximum direct and indirect benefits of a study becomes a hot topic.At the end of the 1970s, American scholars A. L. Saaty, proposed a systematical method combined with qualitative and quantitative analysis--Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).AHP is a multi-criteria and multi-goals decision-making procedure .It will help policy makers to address the problem down into consideration factors such as the establishment of one or more layered structure of the tree, so that decision-making can be changed into a series of relatively simple comparison and sequencing, and we can get results from analysis of all the optimal answer. The method has been widely used for its advantages .But the practice reveals that there is still many problems needed to discuss.Based on the traditional analytic hierarchy process ,this paper has analysed programs for the installation of steel truss and re-established an open index system of the steel truss program evaluation .Also ,it takes a new method to determining the weight. I call it a improved AHP method.Through practices it shows that the method based on the theory of systems engineering, improve traditional analytic hierarchy process to a certain extent and make it more workable. This method reduces the difficult of experts when they make decision, so that advice of experts could be more accurately reflected. At the same time, open and changeable index system can be more responsive to the real needs and show its flexibility. In this paper, author especially analyses why it will become un-consistency during the traditional binary comparisons .The sequencing is an effective way to solve the problem.Improve AHP method from both theoretical and practical aspects improves the theory, at the same time it makes more convenient for the actual work process. It is of the value in the steel truss installation area.
