In recent years, power systems security problem is becoming more important than ever before due to worldwide deregulation and interconnection of bulk power systems. It has become an urgent issue to develop faster and more efficient security control methods. The reference [49] develops a new comprehensive security control method that takes both preventive control and emergency control actions into consideration. The new method can classify the contingency set into two subsets. Then the prevention control and emergency control respectively maintain the security of the system for each subset. Based the above method, this thesis does a series research works to the problem of the emergency control method in this comprehensive control method.Firstly, the thesis makes a brief introduction on the emergency control method in the power system comprehensive security control method. After that,this thesis does a series of research works on the shortcomings of the new emergency control method. The two tough issues, that are the definition of the control measure validity index and the filtration of the candidate control measure set, are taken as the main object of this study. To testify the veracity of the control measure validity index, the paper makes a computes to a practical problem. It is discovered that the power system stability margin will be changed nonlinearly with the increasing of the control quantity. The accuracy of the tradition validity index based on the sensitivity is ensured with a small control quantity. However, with a big control quantity, there will be an unacceptable error. Thereby, the tradition indexes are not fit to the matter of power system security control. On the contrary, the validity index of the new method can reflect this nonlinear changing of the system stability margin sufficiently. To the dimension problem of the candidate control measure set, the paper designs a filtration method for the screening of the candidate control measures set. First of all, the filtration method calculates the validity index of the elementary control measures. And then, the validity index of other control measures will be estimated linearly using these elementary indexes. By the estimated indexes, a mass of evidently invalid measures will be excluded from the candidate measure set. And so, the dimensions of control measure set will be reduced distinctly.Finally, the paper designs the program of new emergency control method.
