Induction motor is one of the necessary power load simulator equipments in the dynamic model laboratory of power system. But it is room consuming, not convenient to adjust, electric power energy consuming and the repeating starting procedure trials will do serious damage to the internal structure of the motor. To solve these problems, adopting the principle of voltage-type PWM converter, considering about the high power AC environment in the electric power environment, the motor simulator is designed based on the three-phase AC type separate-controlled AC-DC-AC power load simulator.For the three-phase AC type separate-controlled AC-DC-AC power load simulator ,While the Volt-Ampere characteristics of power load are simulated by the AC-DC part, the stability control for the DC voltage in the simulator is accomplished by the DC-AC part. Meanwhile, in order to improve the feed-back efficiency of the simulator, unit power factor control is applied in the feed-back current. According to the big current and rapid changing characteristics of the motor, some improvements like the parallel connection structure and the phase-shift technique is adopted on the three-phase AC type power load simulator. For ensuring the quality of the feed-back current, the genetic algorithm is supplied for the parameters optimization of the PID controller.About the motor simulator base on PWM, not only the exact Volt-Ampere characteristics of the motor is simulated, but also the high quality feedback electric power to the external power system is supplied and the absorbed power energy can be cycled in the most degree, the loss can be reduce to the least. So it will likely be applied in the dynamic model laboratory of power system and the testing occasions of the industry.
