As an old bridge type,arch bridge has his characteristic technical superiority such as long crossing ability , economical cost, less cost on Maintenance, and beautiful shape. Studies on bridge structure system are developing constantly, but there are a few attendant problems in them . The conception of structure system is proposed firstly.Based on the definition , further studies on bridge structure system are initiated in this paper.(1) The conception of structure system is proposed and the content and significance of the study of bridge structure system is discussed in this paper. The foundation to study the arch bridge structure system is established .(2) The mechanical behavior of single arch is summarized here.The components of arch structure system and their function is proposed . The mechanism of load pass is indicated .Based on the conception of structure system ,the system of arch bridges is classified systemically.(3) Through comparative study of hingeless arch bridge and combined bridge with stiff beam and rigid arch, two-hinged arch bridge and tie-bar arch bridge,the influence of boundary conditions on mechanical condition is discussed.The main types of structure system with thrust and structure system without thrust are introduced .Combined with practical engineering,their mechanical behavior is analyzed.(4) Through comparative study of hingeless arch bridge , two-hinged arch bridge and three-hinged arch bridge, the influence of connection condition of arch on mechanical condition is discussed.The connection condition of arch and beam of combined bridge with beam and arch with semi-thrust,and combined bridge with beam and arch without thrust is discussed. Combined with practical engineering, the influence of connection condition of arch and beam on mechanical condition is studied.(5) Taking combined bridge with beam and arch with single hanger rod as example ,the cooperation principle of combined bridge with beam and arch is discussed preliminarily. Combined with practical engineering,the force distribution of arch and beam in simplysupported combined bridge with beam and arch is studied systemically.(6) Based on the existing research results on arch bridge structure system in this paper , system optimization and innovation of arch bridge is discussed.
