As a convenient and cheap transportation vehicle, motorcycle has a big market in China, especially in countryside, while the pollution problem of motorcycles can not be ignored. In order to pass more and more stringent emission regulation, Engine Management System (EMS) will more and more replace carburetor system to be used in motorcycles. Motorcycle EMS system's load is calculated by intake pressure. As one cylinder motorcycle's intake pressure fluctuates in a big extent caused by its special configuration, load detection is not so accurate. This paper will study the intake pressure's features on different conditions to design a proper method of using intake pressure to calculate load.Experiment is done on a 125mL, four strokes, one cylinder, water cooled engine to get intake pressure's features on different conditions. In order to simulate engine conditions, a GT-POWER model is set up, and its accuracy is checked by experiment results. Then this model is used to design the method of using intake pressure to calculate load. The method is...
