DC power supply system is the most important part of power equipment, such as power plant and transformer substation. It supplies power for relay protecting, measurement system, communication system, monitor system and accident lighting. As the core of DC power supply system, storage batteries group ensures the power equipment running normally during power cut.However, the service life of storage batteries group is greatly shorter than its design life. It is found that the main factor is the inequality of storage battery. The inequality will increase with the increasing of charge time. The result is that some units among the storage batteries group become failure and the storage batteries group will be scrapped.In order to lengthen the lifetime of storage batteries group, this thesis studies the structure, principle and character of valve-regulating lead-acid (VRLA) battery since it is mostly used in DC power system.
