HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current Transmission) Light technology is a new DC transmission technology developed on the basis of traditional HVDC from the 1990s. It makes economic applications of HVDC reduced to the scope of tens of MW, particularly applicable to the application of small-scale power generation and transmission. The system consists of the terminal converter station of two or more transmission terminals and their link components. Compared to the AC Transmission and local power generation, HVDC light system is not only cost advantages, It also exchanges to enhance AC power quality for a new approach.HVDC transmission technology using GTO and IGBT turn-off device build up voltage source converter (VSC). It dispense with converter transformers, and the entire converter station can be relocated. Its operating characteristics make it also competitive at a short transmission distance. As GTO and IGBT electronic devices are used which can turn-off of power, the commutation failure is avoid, and the capacity on the receiving end is not required. So it is particularly applicable to distributed power generation and transmission system for access to fuel cells, wind power, photovoltaic power generation, and other distributed power. In addition, the system can also be used to isolate small system power supply, such as offshore oil platforms, islands, and the interconnection of networks in different voltage and frequency.In this dissertation, the steady-state model of the HVDC Light was built. A control strategy about active and passive network power supply based on active and reactive independent regulation was proposed. And establish the relationship between the controlling variables and the controlled variables. Design a PI controller applicable to the HVDC Light system. For more efficient control of HVDC light system, to apply a DSP in HVDC light control system was proposed and researched in this dissertation. And, meanwhile, a back-to-back HVDC light system of the physical model was established.
