Electric devices on-line monitoring is essential for predicting maintenance and as a supplement to the traditional off-line preventive maintenance is the key factor of its reliable operation. The power transformer is one of the key transmission and transformation devices in power system and its running status have enormous influence to security and economical operation of power system. The power system will has enormous losses once the power transformer breaks down. Therefore, power transformer on-line monitoring could significantly improve power supply reliability and greatly reduce the expense for regular overhaul.Composition and content of dissolved gas can reflect inner insulation fault of running power transformation effectively. Oil meteorologic chromatogram analysis is an important method of power transformer on-line monitoring. It is very effective to the chronic, part, potential defect of power transformer. We pay attention to power transformer on-line monitoring for it can find existing fault in time because of having real-time and continuity characteristic.In this paper, the oil chromatogram on-line monitoring system software based on Visual Basic is improved and developed. The software has strong data acquisition and analysis ability, and realizes the power transformer fault diagnosis based on oil meteorologic chromatogram analysis. The system can monitor online for a long time, gather the gas chromatogram, and deal with the data through long distance digital communication which binding terminal station and computer. Combined with modern fuzzy diagnosis and visualization technique, it can also analyze off-line gas chromatogram and diagnose the power transformer fault. The software can realize the modularization function of monitoring data collect, system control, data find and analysis, chart show, report output and print, fault diagnosis which the large oil chromatogram on-line monitoring system for power transformer needed. It supports power transformer fault analysis and diagnosis in any demand time, advances information visibility, reduces data processing time and information resource waste. Concluding that vacuum degassing method is effective and accurate than supersonic oscillations method through examination.The system adopts advanced EGC-2 oil chromatogram monitoring instruments for power transformer. It includes the aspect such as degasification, separation, collection, measurement and control etc. The monitoring instruments finish the whole system integration with on-line monitoring system software connected through Line 485.In short, to improve the reliability of supply and distribution power, the work-state of power device must be known clearly, and on-line monitoring is an efficient way to know it. So it is a necessary trend and has a wide application to power system.
