Transformers are major devices in power system, and their reliable operation directly concerns the safety of power network. Gas solved in oil meteorologic chromatogram analysis is an important means of detecting inner faults in transformers. With the development of power network and enhancement of operating voltage, the method of Gas solved in oil meteorologic chromatogram analysis has been improved greatly, and strides an essential step, varying from conventional chromatogram analysis to present on-Line monitoring. This paper studies the application of on-line meteorologic chromatogram monitoring in transformer oil for Jiayuguan 330kV substation. Based on deep analysis of domestic and overseas present status of on-line monitoring and diagnosis, it fully states the mechanism of producing of gas solved in oil and the relationships between meteorologic chromatogram components and types of faults. Compares the principle of conventional detecting with that of on-line monitoring, studies the causes of errors and proposes accordant solutions. Combined with on-site practice, it puts forward installing and fulfilling solution of on-line monitoring for Jiayuguan 330kV substation, accomplishes the installation, testing and operation of on-line monitoring system containing gas detecting unit, gas-oil separating unit and controlling unit. Considering the voltage degree, geograghical environment and weather condition, it analyzes the effects of on-site disturbances on on-line nimitoring system. Software and hardware are used meanwhile to reject disturbances, and this has showed good effect. The analysis of transformer operation status and faults diagnosis, and practical data is also a major task of this paper. Comparison of on-line detecting data and conventional detecting data has indicated that this system operates with reliability and stability. After one year of operation, some defects of this system have been found and improving measures has been proposed. Generally, this system is able to reflect the insulation status of transformers with stable operation. It has great meaning for the safety of power network.
