As one kind of high-accuracy measuring equipment be applied or used universally, three-Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) has several tens years of development history. With the development of computer, electronic control system, inspection technology and modern industry, CMM is, gradually, becoming the leading inspection equipment of the mechanical manufacturing industry. The machine's automated and intellectualized degree are also enhancing unceasingly, and now, one of the leading development direction of CMM is the intelligence coordinate measurement technology and the Virtual Coordinate Measuring Machine(VCMM).But, it is the introduction of the CAD graphic function into the CMM software that pushes the application field and adaptability of CMM to a new high level.The CMM's software based on the graphic driving technology has the characters such as: excellent in both pictures and words; just what you see, what you get; friendly interface and so on. In the meantime, for the treads of developing domestic and foreign CMM and the needs of developing manufacturing process based on information, through the research of domestic and foreign CMM measurement and control system, this thesis discussed the system based on the graphic driving technology. Using the environment of ObjectARX and Visual C++6.0,the second development in AutoCAD or MDT is performed based on the CAD/CMM integrated technology. By programming, user can choose the measuring factors directly from the graph and the geometric information is gotten from the CAD graphic database, then using the DDE technology the data exchange between the obtained information and measuring software is realized. According to the measurement path generated by the information the automatic measurement of CMM is realized.In the thesis, the systematic design way of hardware and software of the CMM based on the graphic driving technology is introduced firstly. Then the thesis discusses the controlling system based on the DSP control card and the method of getting the space coordinate. After that, the thesis discussed in detail on the method of getting the information and data exchange of the 2D and 3D graphics from the AutoCAD. Some problems, such as the measurement path planning, the interface between CAD and CMM are also been discussed. The system is verified through examples. At last, a simple summarization for the thesis and prospect for the possible applications are given.
