Rear view mirror is an important、active and safety component of the car, inorder to meet the demand of the law and rules; We should take visual conditions intoconsideration reasonably when we design the rear view mirror. Radius of curvature isone of the key parameters in the design; it has determined the driver’s direct judgmenton vision and driving information. The method used spherical radius measurement hasbeen defined in National Standard (GB15804-2006), and it has provided a specificprinciple, structure, measurement and translated chart to abstractly define the linkagebetween readings with radius.Actually, it has lots of disadvantage, for example, time-consuming, low-accuracy. On this base, it has become an urgent work to design a newmeasurement system to detect the radius during the manufacturing.Firstly, this paper analyzed the whole design of the mechanical structure; it hasmade a deeply implementation and improvement on the basis that GB defined, so itchanged into a scientific method that used curve calculation. During the designing ofthe measurement system, it chose the process that servo motor controlled by IPC withthe linkage of movement control card, so the displacement sensor would have beendirected by the movement control card, and to drive the sensor collect data along afixed track.Then it accorded to the requirements of control system, finished the design of thehardware and software components of the system. In this two keycomponents,hardware worked as an important roles in the way of providingequipment.It contains the whole structure’s summary,and the brief introduction ofsensors, IPC, motors selection. Besides, the displacement sensor linked with IPC onthe base of win32RS232agreement; it has improved the accuracy of measurement.Atthe same time, it also made the system to be more efficiency when it collected thedata details. The paper researched and analysis the relationship between themeasurement system and control card, and finally designed out capable and availablenew system software. Based on National Instruments NI’s graphical programmingLabVIEW11.0,the software established on a comprehensive development platform.The designed software has a direct powerful and flexible interface, it provided anaccessible system for customer to collect, storage and analysis data, the final resultswould be print out in printer. Finally, the experimental results showed that the design and control system isfeasible and capable. The new measurement system has implemented and improvedthe old measurement.In order to upgrade the system, it also described several aspectsthat need to be improved in this essay.
