The multiple sail poses high speed catamaran is a new type catamaran, just as its name implies, it has a lot of sail poses, include submergence, sliding, air cushion and common sail pose. The multiple sail poses high speed catamaran gathers characteristics of many ships, however, there is not existing one. It is similar with complex ship, but it has more sail poses. This paper is from the conceptual design of the multiple sail poses high speed catamaran's structure, to accomplishing more logical preliminary design. It takes the structure mould according with the multiple sail poses high speed catamaran's own characteristic. Because there is not any research about it, we can not conform to freshwater catamaran criterion and have no reference ship, what's more, encounter lots of difficulties in structural design. This paper is a pioneer of the multiple sail poses high speed catamaran's structural design. This paper's main content includes the following parts. Fistly, combine the own characteristic of the multiple sail poses high speed catamaran, such as form, sail things and so on, the basic form of structure is designed, refering to present submarine ship structure, hovercraft structure and freshwater catamaran structure. Secondly, base on structural mechanics, using direct calculating method, this paper computes more structural intensity and stability of this catamaran, and find a suited structural form. Finally, calculating about two status of the catamaran, which are submergence and partial hull on the wave, through finite element analysis, and study on the results above. This subject has strong engineering background and application value, which can provide important data and referance for the design of catamaran for the future.
