As a result of the rapid increasing of the demand for oil in the world scale, exploitation in land and shallow sea oil field can't satisfy our requirements. However, there is abundant oil resource in deep sea. To develop the ability of exploitation of the oil resource in the sea, Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), which is an all-around surface type ocean structure with functions of oil production, storage, transport and so on, is widely used nowadays for ocean oil exploitation, and is tend to be the main force of the surface type product system. For guarantee the safe operation of FPSO in the sea, checkout for the intension, fatigue and other aspects of FPSO is needed. The basic approach of the FPSO checkout is the finite element analysis. Therefore the corresponding finite element analysis technique is needed to found a model that can simulate the real condition better. In this paper, the finite element model of FPSO is established using the FEMAP of FEA for FPSO, the shape of which is complex but also can be tackled, how to make the procedures of modeling more simple and convenient is also discussed, and a secondary exploitation method of FEMAP using Visual Basic for some procedures of modeling is put forward. The automatic modeling process including the creation of body line and hull geometrical model, and the division of the hull geometrical model is achieved, thereby plenty time spent on modeling is saved.
