With foundation pits of buildings in the city are becoming wider and deeper in recent years, the environmental effect of excavation become more and more significant. The pile response due to adjacent excavation-induced soil movements gets more and more attentions from the engineering field. It is necessary to estimate the degree of effect of adjacent pile due to excavation with appropriate approach. However, there are few papers on that have been published in this field. In this thesis, study is carried on the pile response due to adjacent excavation based on field observation and numeric analysis method.A 3-dimensional finite element model considering foundation pit and adjacent pile with the finite element software ABAQUS is proposed in this paper. In this model, sequential excavations and strut installations are simulated, the interaction of retaining structure and adjacent pile of different types is analyzed too. In this thesis, a method of determination of unloading-modulus of soil in the finite element analysis is suggested, the deforming and bending moment of the pile in the different working conditions are also analyzed. Some important aspects in the excavation construction are highlighted and some suggestions for the excavation FEM numerical simulation are given in this thesis.
