Marine radar simulator has played an important role and has been generally welcomed in maritime education and training after it came into being. Radar simulator has been demanded higher performances along with rapid development of marine industry. And the explicit standards are clearly defined by STCW Convention 78/95.With the development of computer technology, Modeling and Simulation Technology is being used in more and more fields and has been developmental trend of radar image imitation. Modeling and Simulation of marine radar simulator based on computer platforms in particular has been developmental trend of radar simulator currently. High-speed calculation and Huge storage capacity has been realized in complex numerical calculation and simulation of radar image.The technique of radar system simulation, which results in the combination of the digital simulation technique and the radar technique, has many advantages such as economical efficiency, flexibility, repeatability, inheritability and so on. Therefore, it has been a necessary condition in modern radar research. But as development trend of computer simulation, Modeling and Simulation Technology has not been applied in marine radar simulator completely. To deal with the above problem, the thesis presents the method to simulate the marine radar echo image based on Modeling and Simulation Technology and electromagnetic wave theory, in order to obtain the better result of image simulation. The key work involves:Firstly, gives a systematic analysis of Modeling and Simulation Technology and its related knowledge, original data type of coastline in radar echo are acquired from chart recur to digital instrument.
