Effervescent atomizer is a new type atomizer. Comparing other types atomizers, it has many advantages. Such as a high quality spray produced at air-to-liquid mass flow rate ratios substantially lower than most atomizers. The gas and the liquid can transfer energy efficiently and the liquid viscosity has limited effect on the atomization performances . It has being attracted much attention gradually. And it has begun to be used in the atomization of high viscosity liquids such as heavy oil. To adopt its advantages in the dry and semi-dry desulfurization . It is necessary to make deep research on the spray of effervescent atomizer. In this paper, the atomization of effervescent atomizer is investigated systematically by combining theoretical analyses and experimental researches.Several kinds different structures and sizes effervescent atomizers were designed. Premier coal water paste test-bed was rebuilt. It is valid to measure particle size with advanced PIV apparatus and newly developed image processing software for the first time. The experimental results is satisfactory. To gain the error of the experiment, the validation was performed with two kinds of emery power. The validation results showed that the error was 14%~17.9% .By analyzing the atomizing properties of effervescent atomizer, the atomizing mechanism of this type is described sufficiently, all kinds main effects of atomization are summarized and the data for engineering use are put forward. It mainly include the pressure of the air , air-to-liquid mass flow rate rations, liquid mass flow rate, area of air-injector, etc.Numerical modeling studies have been conducted by FLUETN software. The mixing of gas and liquid two phase bubbly flow , the distribution of pressure , the concentrention distribution of volume , the velocity vector and the velocity vector distribution , particle diameter distribution of spray. More afer-disposal is made by TECPLOT software.The result of numerical modeling has some directed significance for application in the reality of effervescent atomizer.
