Bioenergy is an ideal renewable and acceptable energy with advantages of lower pollution, which is taken much attention and become an important task to study. So a systematic study on pyrolysis and gasification of biomass is performed.The Thermogravimetry-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (TG-FTIR) method is used for studying pyrolysis characteristics of biomass in different heating rates.The main gas products are H2O, CO2, CO, CH4 and some organics carbohydrate mixtures. They show the similar evolution trend of weight loss at 200℃~400℃. Based on experimental data a pyrolysis kinetics model was proposed, the kinetic parameters of biomass pyrolysis are obtained by using the method of Sharp.The fluidization characteristics of the mixture of biomass and sand under different mixed ratio are studied, so as to better operate a fluidized bed to convert biomass, during which the curves of pressure-velocity are obtained. Linear interpolation is a kind of versatile method used to gain the minimum fluidization velocity of the mixture of biomass and sand. Then the gasification characteristics of rice hulls are performed on a fluidized bed, which was designed at the laboratory scale. And the different product gases are analyzed by using Orsat apparatus and chromatographic analyzer. Then the relationships between different reaction conditions (excessive air coefficient and temperature) and parameters (the composition of gasification gas, the heat value of the gas and the gasification efficiency etc) are achieved.
