At present, China faces serious situation in the quality security of drinking water, thereby it is in urgent need of a superior technology on advanced treatment of those waters. In this paper, we took the drinking water quality as a research object and developed an advanced treatment technology for the drinking water by the combining electrocoagulation and microfiltration process.Electrocoagulation-microfiltration (EC-MF) process aimed at disposing fluorine, humic acid and bacterium in drinking water. The relevance between the removal effect of the pollutants and their influence factors (i.e., current density, initial concentration of the pollutants, pH and co-existing ions, etc) was discussed, and this process was found to be highly operable and effective, with the characteristics of compact and facilitated operation in their equipment.. The results indicated that the way of disposing pollutants in drinking water by this combination process was feasible and the outlet water quality reached the national standard for drinking water. In conclusion, EC-MF process was a highly effective water treatment technique and could be applied in the production practice.
