To realize the good running performance of pulverized coal boiler, such as resistance to slagging, stability of flame at low load, low pollution and the efficient combustion, the technology of Controllable Pulverized Coal Rich/Lean and Low NOx burner was researched in this dissertation experimentally and theoretically. The Controllable Pulverized Coal Rich/Lean and Low NOx burners were applied in Beijing First Thermal Power Plant to meet the need of use Shenhua coal which is easy to slag.The dissertation focused on the burners retrofit of boiler which load was 410 ton steam per hour. It was researched in detail that the boiler and the burners characteristics before the retrofit, the request of the retrofit project, the retrofit scheme,cold test and hot test. The test results showed that the retrofit was successful. The boiler could run safely using Shenhua coal and combust stably at 40% load without oil and NOx emission also decreased efficiently.
