The first step of solving the power quality problem is to measure and analyze the various state variables of the power system. The authentic estimation of the various power quality indices can be obtained only through accurate measurement and correct analysis. Only after completing the first step, the corresponding measures can be adopted to improve the power quality. Dynamic voltage quality is an important content of the modern power quality, the monitoring and analysis of which is of great significance for solving power quality problem. In this paper, the formation mechanism, characteristics and harm of dynamic voltage quality are analyzed deeply and the definition of dynamic voltage quality is given. Afterwards, the dynamic voltage monitoring algorithm is discussed and the design of dynamic voltage monitoring prototype is accomplished. The experiment results demonstrate that the prototype can accurately log dynamic voltage events and measure characteristic quantity, which meets the design requirements.
