Protection relays servers as an important tool to make sure the safe of operation of power; also they will greatly improve the quality of power supply in nowadays. With the expansion of power system and increasing requirement of consumers for power quality, the protection relay must be greatly improved to fulfill the requirement. Based on the analysis of the development of the protection relays, and according to the need of power market and the actuality of microcomputer-based line protection, this paper has worked out a set of MBLP device for 35kv transmission lines. This product integrates protection, measurement, control, and communication functions.The product adopts separation asbestos sheet in the hardware design. According function can be divided into: the Main Board (CPU), alternative current input module (PTCT), Switch input DC input modules (DIDC), Operating circuit (OPERATE), MMI and Power Module (POWER) plug-in Boards. This paper introduced the plug-in hardware design, the device uses TMS320F2812 as the main CPU for sampling dates and fulfilling protective functions, input and output control. In order to make the hardware frame simplicity, complex DSP chip logic are putted in the CPLD logic chip to achieve, also Some signal will need to spend a lot of time waiting for are achieved by the CPLD module. This instrument not only can perform functions of protection monitoring and current protection, but also integrates the functions of zero-sequence current protection, under frequency load shedding and automatic recloser.Software focuses on the DSP development environment CCS (Code Composer Studio), using C and Assembly Language combination in development of protection software designed and specifically describes the preparation of document in CCS.The protection instrument has been tested on a simulation system model. It is showed that the protective functions are suitable and it has good performance. Finally, the system needs further improvement program.
