The problem of interaction between foundation soil and structure is a difficult question in solid mechanics. Because of the complexity, the analysis of mid-thick round plate and conical shell on the elastic half-space foundation is few. The information provided by these researches can be used in design of foundation structure as well as analysis of supporting soil's stress and deformation. Therefore, it is very important to research the problem about this aspect and summarize the existing research production.In this paper, the method for solving the bending problem of mid-thick round plate as well as conical shell in the elastic half-space foundation is discussed.In this paper, power series method is used to solve the bending problem of a mid-thick round plate on the elastic half space foundation with free edge by distribute force. Basing on Hu Haichang's bending theory of plate with three generalized displacement (concerning the transverse shearing deformation), the displacement and foundation reaction is expressed in power series form, and the coupled equations for the problem are presented by coefficient comparison. Numerical example is given which proved the validity of the new method in solving the problem. Comparing with the result of classical thin plates, the numerical results show that power series method is effective. And it can get a very good precision to select only a few of items. So, the computation is easy to convert.Least square method to solve the static bending problem of conical shell with free edge on elastic half-space foundation is used. The expression of elastic half-space foundation of stress and displacement can be obtained by a series of Hankel integral transformation. Then, substitute it as rotational shell's stress and displacement into the basic equation of shell. The internal force and displacement can be determined by least square method.Finally, this paper gives some conclusions and prospect about this research field.
