The cold-formed steel component as a kind of cheap material has been widely used on field of architecture, automobile, traffic, storage and etc. The application scope at home is almost limited in the cladding sub-structure of building such as: purlins, girds and etc. However it has been progressively used in the steel frame of low-rise buildings and dwelling houses, and formed a system of shop fabrication and assembling on site standard metal and industrialized building abroad. This article is mainly focused on primary discussion on design of cold-formed steel portal frame with inclined braces, which is concerned for barracks of field army. The contents include mainly the items described below:1. The computer program was compiled based on finite element analysis to figure out the critical load on compression member of composite portal rigid frame, and then to figure out the effective length coefficient; 2. To compare the effective length coefficients of compression member of the models made from different kinds of depth-to-span ratio and different positions of inclined braces;3. To confirm the effective length coefficient of compression member described in this article;4. To analyze and compare the effective cross section in this article that is aim at the national criterion GB50018-2002 and USA criterion AISI which is related to the different kinds of calculation methods and aimed at some improve opinion from experts in our country.5.To analyze and compare the stability in the moment acted plane of members according to the effective length coefficient and the member's effective cross section calculated out by the above 3 calculation methods.
