The cold-formed steel beams are widely used in the low-rise residential buildings. It is difficult to predict the deformation of purlin beams,because of the size,location, type of the loads and the span,bending rigid of the beams etc,.So the deformation of the beam is not well understand now..The deformation behavior of a total of 13 cold-formed lipped channel simple beams by Q235 and 27 high strength cold-formed steel hat section simply supported beams by 550MPa as well as 24 continuous beams under bending have been studied in this paper.On the basis of the test results,of steel beams,the factors which affect the deflections of cold-formed steel beams are analyzed by grey connection...Based on the requirements of analysis,the paper also uses the nonlinear finite element software-ANSYS to analyze the bending behavior of the cold-formed lipped channel members.The comparision of FEM results and test results show that they are agree well with each other.At the same time,the sectional thickness of parameter is analysed by ANSYS.The comparision of anslysis results and results according to the Chinese Code GB50018-2002 show that the deformation results by Chinese Code GB50018-2002 are small..So according to the Chinese Specificationof GB-50018,the deformation calculated by gross section is unsafety.the main factors which affect the bending deflection of cold-formed steel beams are analyzed,and based on the comparison of mathematical statistics,a beams bending deformation formula calculated for the cold-formed steel beams is given in this article...
