Building performance-based fire protection design is the most pop and fastest developed research field in overseas fire science research, it is based on the theory of fire safety and related applied techniques, and it is the inevitable current and subsequence of developing of fire safety technology. Along with the fast development of construction industry, the PBD method comes into China, but the fire safety engineers and the Authority Having Jurisdiction have different capability, in order to unify the design and auditing action, it is necessary for us to do the work of compiling engineering guide to performance-based fire protection analysis and design of buildings and validating the availability of analysis tools.Based on the performance-based design method of other countries, this paper try to bring forward the details of performance-based design method. It discussed the usage and availability issue of the field simulation software, and prompts the solution. The main content of the paper include:1. Analyzed the performance-based design method and its now situation in other countries, brought forward the details of performance-based design method.2. Found the relations between building fire hazard and occupant evacuation using the gray synthetic assessment.3. Use the BP neural network, established the method to model the relations between building fire hazard and occupant evacuation, modeled the relation using MATLAB4. The author simulated the example using Fire Dynamic Simulator and analyzed the occupants evacuation in the building using the established model, validated the availability of the field simulation software comparing the outcomes.
