This paper firstly expatiated on general theory of bearing capacity of foundation soil, including influence factors and calculation methods. Secondly, distribution of highway's foundation soil along transmeridional Jieshou-Fuyang-Bengbu expressway, Mengcheng-Bengbu expressway, the north section of longitudinal Hefei-Xuzhou expressway, Bozhou-Fuyang expressway and Fuyang-Liuan expressway in Huaibei area was discussed, and the geotechnical test results of highway' foundation soil were collected and analyzed. Meanwhile, their distribution figures were drew, and the reasonable value ranges of physico-mechanical indexes about general cohesive soil, recently deposited cohesive soil and silty soil were obtained. Thirdly, according to the bearing capacity obtained from plate loading test, basic values of bearing capacity of general cohesive soil and silty soil in Huaibei area were analyzed, and the standard values of bearing capacity and statistical correction coefficients were calculated. Finally, the paper also expatiated on inspection methods and principle about bearing capacity of foundation soil. According to in-situ soil test results of highway's foundation soil in Huaibei area, and with linear regression method, the linear relationships between bearing capacity of general cohesive soil and silty soil and physico-mechanical indexes, specific penetration resistance of static cone penetration test, thump numbers of penetration test (CTR-1) were established. Then according to the regression equations, the tables about bearing capacity of foundation soil were finished, which could be applied to inspection of bearing capacity of foundation soil in highway projects in Huaibei area.
