Nowadays, the contamination of drinking water resource is a universal problem, which is represented by the excess ammonia and organic compound or odour and chroma derived from them. The excess ammonia is transformed into other harmful substance such as nitrate and nitrite,by the normal water supply process, furthermore, it depletes the chlorine in the water supply system so as to make a waste of disinfector. In this research, bacteria bed is connected with slight electrolysis through a biofilm-electrode reactor to remove ammonia as well as total nitrogen, organic compound depleted simultaneously. Titanium board and graphite are used as anode and cathodes respectively, at which oxygen and hydrogen developed to feed the microorganism corresponding to nitrification and denitrification. Elastic packing and biologic filtering material serves as the carrier for the nitrifier and the carbon fibers attached the cathodes are used to develop the denitrifier. we control the level of nitrification and denitrfication by changing the dissolved oxygen level, choosing appropriate residence time and changing numerical value of C/N.and the former is controlled through adjusting the electrical current.
