The external existence of uncertain manufacturing environment influences inevitably the smooth progress of assembly process and brings some disturbance or fluctuation on final result of selective assembly, as we know, there is a great deficiencies about the abroad and domestic research on uncertain selective assembly, so this paper expatiates on methods of selective assembly in the uncertain manufacturing environment: At first, the conceptual model about the causes leading to uncertain selective assembly was built by the beginning of several selective assembling targets such as optimization of product quality, maximum of assembling efficiency, minimum of assembling cost and so on, so all of these adopt the manner of converse thinking. Secondly, a series of strategies and methods for reducing uncertainty of selective assembly were built by the begin of the root about uncertain factors which make great effect on selective assembly, all of these strategies and methods are regarded as the effective prophase guaranteeing work for the next phase research on appropriate methods of selective assembly aiming at the optimization of product quality, the maximum of assembling efficiency and the minimum of assembling cost. Thirdly, because of great limitation of the quality stability about final-assembled product in current research, the product quality lost cost (P-QLC) model is built on the basis of Taguchi-quality-lose function which focuses on the optimization of selective assembly, this model can not only give attention to the requests of assembling precision and quality stability together, but also guarantee more precision demand of assembly and less cost of selective assembly by the auto-selective-assembling system which is based on above model. Finally, in order to prove this way's efficiency and feasibility, an example is offered to resolve the selective assembly problem about a mechanical product by applying this way, which is based on the assurance of uncertainty strategies.
