With the acceleration of urban construction, the loads of urban distribution network have increased and the scale is also expanding gradually, the network is much more complex. At the same time, the makeup of power consumer has changed greatly, and consumer's requirement of improving power quality and supply reliability is increasing gradually. It is difficult to keep a large-scaled distribution network operating safely and economically only by manual management, and it is even difficult to satisfy power utilities' imperative requirement of reducing losses and enhancing service quality.Distribution network reconfiguration is an efficient measure of enhancing power network's operating efficiency, supply reliability and power quality. It is a general question covered with many aspects, which can be used to different operating task, such as loss reduction, load balancing, reaction optimization, service restoration, and so on. From 1980s, people have extensively studied on network reconfiguration of distribution system, many mature methods and theories of network reconfiguration have formed and developed, but all the methods have their own strongpoints and shortcomings.Based on the study of network reconfiguration's basic theories, the thesis discusses on the mathematics model of distribution network reconfiguration according to the characteristic of distribution network and the current problem. The dissertation chooses the relevant models whether it is the optimization reconfiguration of normal operating state or the service restoration reconfiguration. In normal operating state, the reconfiguration model in the goal function of loss minimization is established. In the service restoration reconfiguration, a model considering the unrestored load minimization and the number of switching operations minimization is established, looking loss minimization as a reference of choosing the finally project. This fits the quick service restoration need while malfunction happens.Based on analyzing all the reconfiguration method carefully, the thesis researches on a new simulant evolution algorithm called Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm (ACO). The optimization capability of basic ACO is analyzed and improved. The ACO is applied to distribution network reconfiguration, and the implementation process is described in detail. According to the two different reconfiguration situation, sample test of IEEE-33 bus system shows that the ACO has good optimization capability and can solve this kind of combinational optimization problem. Finally, the dissertation uses computer programming to implement the application of ACO. The computation and analysis of the sample test proves the rationality of the network reconfiguration model and the efficiency of the ACO.The dissertation also discusses on the application of GIS to distribution network reconfiguration, and proposes that the application of GIS can be realized through the data exchange of GIS and reconfiguration system. The data that reconfiguration system and GIS should exchange are introduced, and the method of sharing SCADA system's real-time information is researched.
