Along with the development of electrical machine design, manufacture technology and electric power electron technology, many technicians pay much more attention to the PMSM, which has many ideal performances such as simple structure, high efficiency, low rotor consumption, simpler control system than asynchronous motor. Its general design and control mode has been improving by the researchers, who engage in the study of electrical machine and its drive system, correlative productions have been applied to the industry.DTC is the control mode of perfect dynamic and static performance, the basic idea is to control the stator flux linkage and the torque directly. Unlike vector control, the DTC does not require any current regulator, coordinate transformation. Orientation is achieved by stator flux linkage, not rotor flux linkage, which can avoid uncertain parameters which affect the system performance.This article reviews the developing history of the direct torque control technology, expatiates the direct torque control principle, set up the mathematics model of the permanent magnet synchronous motor systematically. The theory of fuzzy control is applied to the direct torque control system for synchronous permanent magnet motor.The modeling and simulation of the direct torque control system for synchronous permanent magnet motor is carried on by MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results show that the feasibility of the direct torque control is fine, control structure is simple, dynamic response performance is ideal. The fuzzy DTC strategy, which is designed base on the characteristic of the PMSM, is able to achieve more superior operation performance than that of the conventional DTC. Torque ripple is restrained obviously. The system control performance is improved.
