A one-dimensional theoretical model of ablation-fed, pulsed plasma thruster (PPT) has been founded in this thesis. It is a time split, single fluid, single temperature model with several relative models under the hypothesis of local thermodynamics equilibrium and quasineutrality but can reflect many basic physics processes. For the aim of constructing high order and high resolution schemes to solve the magnetic hydrodynamic (MHD) equation system, the eigenvalues and eigenvectors for the equation system in the conservation form are gotten. After that, the MacCormack scheme and a modified Runge-Kutta scheme with TVD limiters are compared by solving a one-dimensional shock tube problem under the influence of magnetic field. Based on these efforts, a numerical simulation project for the model is given at last. By using this project, the LES-6 PPT is simulated to test the model. Compared with the experiment's data and other model's results which come from papers, the simulation results show that the model founded in this thesis can simulate the practical physics mechanism to some extend .Another work which has been accomplished in this thesis is the analysis of the PPT to perform attitude control functions. This work contains that designing, simulating the attitude control system (ACS), and making a comparison between the PPT and the reaction wheel ACS. The analysis results show that the PPTs are very attractive devices because of their simple structure, high impulse, high readiness level, and pulsed working for the specific space mission. At the end of this thesis, the PPT model which has been constructed here is discussed, several suggestions for the modeling of the PPT in the future work are also given. The results in this thesis are beneficial to study the physics mechanism of the PPT operating process and PPT's optimization design, and supply some theory supports for the applying of PPT in the future.
