Based on the former's study, this paper builds the finite element model of circularhole castellated beams by ANSYS. Combining with test data and simplified theoreticalsolution, correctness of the three methods are verified in this paper. Major researchefforts of this paper include the three following aspects:First part: Summary of the research.Research and application of the circular hole castellated beams are summarizedand main research contents of this paper are introduced. Emphasize to introduce theelement type, constitutive relation of steel, yield criterion of steel, hardening criterion ofsteel and the process of building the model of castellated beams by ANSYS.Second part: Finite element analysis based on ANSYSFinite element model of circular hole castellated beams with three different spanand five different expansion ratio are build. The whole process analysis of failurebehavior of castellated beam are researched and this part studies distribution rules ofnormal stress, shear stress and reduced stress of castellated beam. Effects of differentexpansion ratio and span-depth ratio on the load bearing capacity of castellated beamare analyzed in 3rd chapter. Effect of web expansion on the stiffness of the castellatedbeam has been studied by drawing load—mid-span deflection curve and arrive at aconclusion that the stiffness are improved more than the load bearing capacity.Third part: Comparing analysisTake for the solution of normal stress and mid-span deflection of the castellatedbeam by Fee's vierendeel truss theory and compare with analysis result of ANSYS. It isproved that Fee's vierendeel truss has enough degree of accuracy. Besides, it is further proved that feasibility of analyzing castellated beam based on ANSYS by comparing testdata with analysis result of ANSYS.At the end of the paper, conclusions have been made and problems remaining tostudy further are put forward.
