With the development of the science and technology and the enhancement of living standard, as well as the military application aspect request, the high performance ships have obtained the vigorous development in the world scope, as one of most important members of the high performance ships, the high speed catamaran developed amazingly in the late 70's. The high speed catamaran has a big deck area and the better stability. The resistant performance of it is eximious, but the interference of the two side hull is extremely complex, which has been studied by many experts. To the high speed catamaran, the choice of ship form, design speed and hull separation are of big relationship of the wave-making resistance of the ship, therefore the research of the wave disturbance of high speed catamaran is of far reaching practical importance.A Rankine Panel Method is developed for calculating the linear and nonlinear wave-making resistance of a ship moving forward with a constant speed. Based on the potential theory, the disturbance velocity potential is expressed by a Rankine source distribution on body surface and the free surface. The nonlinear free surface condition is satisfied in an iterative manner, and the radiation condition is satisfied by the numerical technique of staggered grids. That is to say, the free surface source layer is elevated to a certain height above the free surface and the panel source is replaced by the point sources, which are shifted backwards relative to the collection points on the surface in the longitudinal direction. The source strength are obtained by satisfying all the boundary condition on each side, and the wave-making resistance is gained consequently. The grid of the ship hull and free surface of the catamaran was dispersed on the base of mono-hull.Using the above mentioned method, this thesis made numerical calculations for series 60 and mathematical hull Wigley. The linear and nonlinear, wave-making resistance of the ship moving of series 60 and Wigley were calculated, and the results are closed to the data published in the literatures, which test the reliability of the program. And also, take wigley as a example, the linear wave-making resistance of the high speed catamaran are calculated, and also research something about hull separation and Froude number add to wave-making resistance. According to the curve gained from the results of this thesis, some reference regulations have been obtained. The research of the thesis is helpful to the prediction for hydrodynamic performance and the better choice of design speed and hull separation and so on.
