Genetic algorithm is a new optimizing searching method based on biology evolutionary theory. It is a global optimization algorithms with high robust performance. It has been widely applied in automatic control field. Some improvements like greatest unit conserved strategy, adaptive technique to crossover operator and mutation operator are presented to overcome the slow and premature convergence shortages of Canonical Genetic Algorithms. Analysis is made on their effects on algorithm convergence.In the dissertation PID-control system is analyzed and simulated using Matlab as a tool.Genetic algorithm is used to search for the best PID factors. By applying the modified genetic algorithm to the optimizing of parameters of PID controller, Better performances of control system are achieved and simulation result based on Matlab shows its feasibility and utility.The most applications of the GA in the automatic field are still in theoretical simulation.This dissertation presents a data communication mode between the simulative and actual systems, which uses the Matlab Simulative plant, This mode presents a new method to apply GA in the engineering to develop industrial control systems. This method is easy and intuitional, and valuable for engineering application.
