The South-North Water Transfer Project is one of the world famous big scale project that will relieve the heavily shortage water problem in north regions of China. The aqueducts of middle route project are large-scale crossing structure, whose water conveyance safety and structure safety are extremely important. Many of aqueducts that had been built before were flumes in canal system or drainage flumes. The scale of them is small. So the systematic research about aqueduct safe monitor is little. Most of the trunk canal aqueducts for South-North Water Transfer Project have exceeded the largest flumes of the world in span. Once the project has an accident, the consequence is inconceivable. In order to protect people's life and the property security, it is necessary to establish a safe monitor system which is used to monitor the construction and operation status of aqueduct. With an example of the Ming-He aqueduct, the finite element static analysis model to this large-scale pre-stressed aqueduct was established by the FEM software ANSYS, considering the position and count of the pre-stressed steel. The results about the stress and displacement were given under four work conditions; the superiority of the model was proved through the comparison with model had no pre-stressed steel.Based the FEM results and the knowledge of ANN, the monitoring model about the aqueduct span centre cross-section monitoring point was established, which can predict the stress, displacement result of the monitoring point. After comparing the prediction result and the computed result, it is found that the prediction ability of the model is well in finite element computation scope.
