Study On The Commercial Exterior Space Of Historic District

The city is the result of human civilization and social wisdom, every city has its unique historical and cultural traditions and developing path. However, as the globalization of economics and China's accelerated urbanization process, the historical block which is the representative of city's cultural traditions, gradually disappear, features subside, and the city has increasingly gone towards convergence. In such circumstances, people gradually realize that the key to create modern urban living space while protecting the city's character is to research the characteristics of each city and its historical block, seek the point of protection and updating according to the character in order to preserve the city's character, and continue the urban context.The first problem that the historical block face is not only to protect but also to develop. Practice has proved that reasonable commercial space and commercial structure of historical block can bring economic development, increase their vitality. As an important component of the exterior space, the exterior space is not only the day-to-day social life of the public space vector, but also the public feeling cityscape of the main venues. Therefore, studying on the exterior space is a necessary part of studying on the commercial space of the historical block. How to design a better commercial exterior space of historical block, to match the indoor commercial space and the entire historical block, which serves to protect and develop historical block better, is the important issue the design sector is facing now. We should not only study at the theoretical level, but also do in-depth studies for specific areas, addressing their special cultural features to explore the guiding principles of the corresponding design. Based on above, the thesis chooses a famous historical and cultural city Chengdu as an example, and study aiming at the specific situation--Chapter I : Introduction, the main topic is to discuss the importance of the study, describes selection of the case study, and establishes the research methods and the implementation of the framework; Chapter II : The background analysis of the commercial exterior space of history neighborhood, First, we analysis the dialectical relationship between the protection and development of historical block; Second, study the different factors affecting the outcomes of the history block's commercial space and commercial exterior space, sparking the thinking on the status quo of the historical block's exterior commercial space, and critically views the effects of current consumer trend thought on the historical space; Chapter III: The main content of historical block commercial exterior space's design, the contents we summarize are the external protection and development of commercial exterior space's design, culture theme and functional activities, space layout and accessibility, the external space elements, conduct activities, etc.; Chapter IV : Case analysis on commercial exterior space of historical block in Chengdu, study on the update and transformation of the Chengdu Jinli Pedestrian Street, Wenshufang district and Daci Temple district from the external design side; Chapter V: The design guidelines of commercial exterior space of historical block in Chengdu, we do a comparative study on commercial exterior space's design of historical block in Chengdu, and then get the design guidelines for the development of Commercial exterior space of the historical block, meeting the reality of Chengdu's development. Of which, Chapter IV and V are the focus of this study.
