Waverider vehicles have a wide outlook of application. In order to study aerodynamic performance and static stability of this type vehicle, the method of numerical calculation was established in this paper, based on finite volume method, NND scheme and LU-SGS method. Numerical simulation of shock-boundary layer interaction on panel and flow around blunt cones indicated that the numerical method and computational software used in this paper, were able to simulate three dimensional supersonic flowfield well and calculate aerodynamic force accurately.Waverider vehicles designed using the wedge cone method have high lift-to-drag ratio L/D, large volumetric efficiency and good uniformity of flow at the inlet. This paper designed the configuration of waverider vehicles using this method, examined the design process and software, and studied the influence of design parameters on performance parameters. The results of calculation suggest that among the design parameters, M∞,αwc,θand k A had opposite influence on L/D and volumetric efficiency, thus optimization must be carried out in realistic design. Both of the two performance parameters increased as k C increased in a large range and were slightly affected by k B.In the research of aerodynamic force, this paper calculated aerodynamic force of the sharp leading edge waverider vehicle firstly, then studied aerodynamic force of the blunt case taking example for the blunt leading edge vehicle with 40mm radius of curvature at the leading edge, and finally studied the influence of the leading edge bluntness. The research suggest that angles of attack had great influence on L/D of both sharp and blunt leading edge waverider vehicles, and Mach number's influence on L/D was slight for sharp leading edge vehicle but large for blunt case.When the angle of attack was small, the influence of radius of curvature of the leading edge on L/D was large, which became slight as angle of attack increased. As the radius of curvature of the leading edge increased, maximum L/D decreased while the angle of attack at it increased.The static stability of waverider vehicles was also discussed in this paper, based on the calculation of aerodynamic force. It was indicated that for the configuration of waverider vehicle and computational range used in the calculation of aerodynamic force, the sharp and blunt leading edge waverider vehicle were lognitudinal static stable when their center of gravity was in the range 0< Xcg <0.542 and 0< Xcg 0.539 respectively;for the blent leading edge waverider vehicle, yawing static stability was achived when its center of gravity was at Xcg =0.4. The research and conclusions in this paper are preliminary, based on which later research can be carried out.
