With the rapid development of information technology and network technology, the market competition in the field of manufacturing is aggravating constantly. It is the goal that each enterprise pursues to develop and produce the products with high quality and low cost in a shorter time. A lot of new technologies, new ideas and new patterns were proposed with the great development of computer software technologies , such as virtual design, virtual maintenance, virtual assembly and virtual manufacturing. In the field of aircraft virtual maintenance, we utilize the computer to simulate the maintenance process of aircraft DMU, and to prove and analyze the aircraft maintainability. For the aircraft design this can make us easier to find the maintainability problems as early as possible. Therefore, the virtual maintenance technology is very significant for guaranteeing the aircraft quality and reliability, reducing the maintaining cost and shortening the aircraft design cycle.The human-computer interaction of virtual maintenance is more complicated than most of other applications based on virtual reality. In order to make the human-computer interaction more easy and efficient, the development of virtual environment, which is the bottle-neck problem of the virtual maintenance, is researched, and virtual maintenance concepts are studied. In the mean time, the key problems of realization of virtual environment are presented and the solutions are explored. We place the emphases on the development of virtual design environment based on the CATIA/CAA, the data glove is integrated into CATIA as a tool of research on the virtual environment. Then we utilize the tool to study the important problems in the virtual environment realization, which include real-time collision detection, gesture recognition and virtual hand grasping, moving and releasing manipulations. We give the feasible and suitable solution of the problems, and carry out them in our CATIA virtual environment. The efficiency of our realization satisfies the requirement of real-time emulation. As a result , the research of the technologies provides good supports on the real and efficient realization of virtual environment , the simulation of aircraft and its components maintenance and even the process of aircraft maintainability design.
