Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokomak (EAST) is the first operating fully superconducting device for nuclear fusion experiments in the world. The cryogenic system is one of the critical subsystems of EAST, which supplies a cryogenic environment to keep the superconducting magnets in the steady and reliable operation. Since a lot of variables need to be controlled, it is in the design of control system for cryogenic that should involves reliable data acquisition, stable control, fast protection and convenient maintenance.This paper elaborates the background and significance of such topic, and introduces the technical process and operation mode of EAST cryogenic system. According to the characteristic and control function of the cryogenic system, the hardware architecture of cryogenic system is plotted and the corresponding software system based on the DeltaV DCS is developed. The system control loop is emphatically analyzed, and some control strategy is researched by utilizing the related control methods and the DCS system configuration chart and the actual movement curves diagram was given in the paper. At the same time, the alarm interlock protection system was designed, making the system with strongly reliability, accuracy and security. At last, the research work about the EAST cryogenic control system is summarized. The expectation of succeeding work is brought forward as well.At present the cryogenic control system has been already examined through three turn cool down experiment, whose movement was good condition.
