Nowadays the technology of switching power supply is gradually being perfect. However, there hasn't stopped to search for a high-power, small volume, high performance power supply. Three-lever DC/DC converters are widely used in power electronics applications, and it is one of the very important way to increase the voltage and decrease the volume. The main objective to propose three-level converter is to reduce voltage stress across the power switches, meaning while the output filter inductance, so that the volume can be reduced. With the development of soft switching, it is the study hotspot that how to combine three-level converter with soft switching.This paper first introduced the basic Three-level converter, and analyzed the interleaved three-level forward converter. It had integrated the advantage of forward converter and three-level converter, but it hadn't realized soft switching. The double forward three-level converter was proposed to solve this problem, it succeeded the advantages and realized soft switching. Furthermore it reduced one of the transformers, the volume was smaller.Finally, the operation principle and theory analysis of the double forward three-level converter was validated by the simulation research and the debugging experiment of 48V/2.5A prototype.
