At present, the engine design widely uses the turbocharging technlogy. The turbocharging has become the important measures in increasing the engine dynamic performance, improving the economics and the emission. In the vehicle engine area, the gasoline engine applies more and more turbocharging technology. Especialy for the small displacement gasoline engine, the aplication of turbocharging technology has drawn more and more attention both at home nd abroad.This paper, taking the DA465Q engine as the research targrt, made the matching calculation on the turbocharger and the engine, presented the technical reform scheme for applying the turbicharger on the engine, defined the design paramters range for the turbocharger, made selection of the turbocharger models, and also carried out the turbocharged engine test on the test bench.To resolve the negative effects such as the serious knock and high thermal load after turbochaging, impovements were also made to the ignition system, lubricatin and cooling system and intake and exhaust systems.. The test results indicated that after applying GT12 turbocharger, the engine reached the expected power, torque and fuel consumption targets, there were no extra high exhasut temperature and explosion pressure, and the increased thermal load and mechnical load were within allowable ranges.Compared with the base engine, the turbocharged engine increases the torque by 50%, the fuel consumption reduces by about 15.8% in the normal high speed range, and the dynamic performance increses significantly. Compared with the same engine models in China, the performance of the turbocharged engine is very close to that of 1.3L 4 valve engine, which puts this engine on a very strong competitive position in the market. The research study and test work of this paper laid down strong foundation on the practical application of the turbocharged engine model in future.
