At first, this thesis reviews the domestic and overseas historical course and developmental trend of low-pylon cable-stayed bridge, simply introduces its structural system, structural characteristic, and mechanics behavior. Ground on the project background of Shawan Bridge in the highway from Dongsha to Xinlian in Guangzhou, the author builds up an elaborate finite element model with MIDAS/CIVIL 2006 based on plate element for the girder. The mechanics behaviors under various loads are calculated respectively at operation stage, by considering the combination of dead load, live loads, temperature load, local temperature load, and wind load etc, the effects of worse combinations are also calculated. Then, the free vibration characteristic of the bridge is studied, and the longitudinal, transverse, vertical and the maximum combined seismic response are analysed by the means of the response spectrum analysis. Lastly, the elastic stabilitis at the maximum double cantilever stage under working loads, wind load and at operation stage under different live loads are calculated. Therefore, the static, dynamic, stable behavior and computing method of large span bridge are comprehensively understood.
