Following the fast development of fiber-optic communication technology, the fiber optic gyroscopes sensing technology has made great progress. Today, high precision, lost cost and multi-axis is the trend to fiber optic gyroscope and the conventional IFOG is the maturest one among all kinds of FOG. As we all know, the cost and the sensitivity to temperature of FOG will increase while the detection sensitivity of it depends on the length of the Sagnac loop. So it is impossible to increase the detection sensitivity of FOG only by increasing the length of the Sagnac loop. In order to reduce the thermal induced effect on FOG, the RE-FOG as the alternative system configuration of IFOG is proposed in this paper. It also presents new theory methods at scheme establishment signal detection and processing. The research method has been tested by experiment and got good results. According to the experience of the project ,the main work of the paper is as follows:Having studied the base principle of FOG deeply, in this paper firstly analyzed the principle of the RE-FOG and the signal detection method of it. Secondly, established the scheme of the whole system and designed an optical circuit for RE-FOG through comparative analysis of different realizing schemes. Then, designed the modulation and driver circuit according to the characteristic of the detection signal.Completed the implement of this system based on FPGA and designed software with VHDL language when the optic source satisfied the requirement of the system, including the analyzing and designing of preamplifier circuit ,the choice of A/D and D/A counter , the designing of data processing and clock control module of FPGA., Then presented the wave of simulation and experiment and compared them to each other. Lastly the expectation of the future work was given according to the problem during the accomplishment.In the last part of this paper, a unique implementation with±π/2 square wave bias modulation and demodulation based on time-division multiplexing (TDM) is proposed according to the developing 3-axial stream of FOG and a multiplexed configuration with a signal light source, detector and electronic board among multi-axis fiber optic gyroscope (FOG). It has potential economic significance for low-cost FOG triad used in present applications.
